Matt Southwell has amassed 9 years’ in the construction and development sector, having spent a number of years with a tier one construction firm Evans Harch (now Badge) in varying roles spanning the full project lifecycle.

It was through this love of creating a “bricks and mortar” outcome, a career decision was made to transition into property development. This transition began by cutting his teeth within a boutique brokage firm and in 2013, Matthew joined Daniel and has successfully sourced and executed multiple transactions with a broad range of roles including sales and marketing, acquisitions, feasibility, market analysis, due diligence through to completion.

Matt Holds a Bachelor of Urban Development (Property Economics & Construction Management) and is a Certified Carpenter (Cert 3).

CALLUM SHORT

Project Partner

Prior to gaining over 6 years experience in analytical, sales and negotiation roles with national and international commercial real estate corporations, Callum completed his bachelor of business management majoring in real estate and property development at the University of Queensland.

During his five (5) years working for CBRE, the largest commercial real estate services firm in the world, he received extensive exposure to both the financial modelling and feasibility analysis of commercial property development as well as front-line practical experience in the transaction and deal creation of retail and commercial investments and residential development sites.

In addition to developing extensive knowledge of and being mentored in commercial property within Brisbane’s leading capital markets team, Callum personally transacted over $200 million in development site and investment sales during his time as a broker. Through this, Callum developed a reputation for securing optimum outcomes for his clients through effective communication, tenacious problem-solving and committed negotiations.

Dan Holden

Director

Daniel Holden brings over 16 years of development and finance experience which includes over nine years in finance consultancy and funds management.  The majority of his time was spent with the national firm Ashe Morgan Winthrop, where he started in 2007 and survived the challenging market conditions of the Global Financial Crisis.

Prior to that Daniel spent over five years a Development Manager for a medium sized property development firm.  His responsibilities covered the full range of roles in property development from concept through to completion.  These responsibilities encompassed acquisition, feasibility, market analysis, product mix selection, technical due diligence, planning marketing and sales management, finance procurement and construction management all the way through to settlement.

Daniel completed his Masters in Business Administration whilst working full time throughout 2010-2012.  His comprehensive education combined with his long pedigree of successful business dealings gave Daniel the confidence to start his own finance firm despite the challenging market conditions of 2011. www.holdencapital.com.au

Further to Holden Capital, Daniel has been completing various retail projects for the previous 5 years. 

STEVE WILTSHIRE

Advisor

Steve Wiltshire is currently Chairman of Holden Capital and an advisor to East Coast Invest. Prior to joining the team Steve was an Executive Director of ANZ’s Institutional Property Group, responsible for the oversight and risk management of its Queensland and the Northern Territory loan portfolio.  Steve also spent 27 years with Macquarie Bank and was National Portfolio Head and a director of its Real Estate Structured Finance Division overseeing its construction finance and joint venture exposures.

Steve experience is drawn from his roles as a risk manager, credit signatory and particularly from his role over many years as the banks representative on the Joint Venture boards of numerous major projects ranging from integrated residential and golf course subdivisions, residential resorts complexes and major commercial and retail projects. This provided him with a unique perspective of the development process from both the financial and developer standpoints. 

Steve is an advisor and mentor to the team and actively assists them with reviewing and structuring of transactions and their financing, drawing on his extensive experience in these sectors.
